Skyway Monte Bianco
Would you like to aim high and touch the sky with one finger?
On board the Skyway Monte Bianco you can reach the highest peaks in Italy and admire the majestic Mont Blanc.
The route starts “downstream” from the Pontal d’Entrèves station in Courmayeur at an altitude of 1,300 metres, stops “upstream” at Pavillon du Mont Fréty (2,173 m) and finally reaches “up in the sky” at Punta Helbronner (3,466 m).
If you want to go further and cross national borders, you can continue via the Trans Mont Blanc, crossing the Mer de Glace to arrive first at Aiguille du Midi and then descend to Chamonix.
PONTAL D’ENTRÈVES
The departure station at Pontal d’Entrèves, which has ample parking, information points, bars, an infirmary and ticket offices, as well as the powerful motors that move the cabins.
PAVILLON DU MONT FRÉTY
The middle station of the Pavillon du Mont Fréty offers panoramic views of the opposing slopes of Val Veny and Val Ferret thanks to its large glass surfaces.
Outside, you can visit the Saussurea botanical garden and find nature trails and a solarium. For the little ones, there is the playground Skyway for kids.
Inside there are two restaurants, a bar, a 150-seat event hall, a small shopping centre and a wine cellar of the Cave Mont Blanc. Also in the Pavilion is Hangar 2173, an exhibition space on the history of the cable car. Entering the Hangar takes you on an evocative trip down memory lane, starting from the inauguration of Skyway Monte Bianco (2015), to 1941, the year of the construction site that saw the first cable on Mont Blanc stretched.
PUNTA HELBRONNER
The last station is that of Punta Helbronner, which, reproducing the shape of a crystal, develops mainly vertically and with overhanging terraces. There is a large circular panoramic terrace, 14 metres in diameter, which offers an extraordinary 360 degree view of most of the “four-thousanders” of the Western Alps: Mont Blanc, Monte Rosa, the Cervino, Gran Paradiso and Grand Combin. Inside, the station houses an exhibition of Mont Blanc crystals, a self-service restaurant, a bar and multimedia information points. Also at Punta Helbronner, it is possible to try out the exciting Skywow: a unique space that extends 2.5 metres, giving the extraordinary sensation of hovering in the air while observing the majestic landscape of the perennial snows and the sheer rocks of Mont Blanc from above. From the station at Punta Helbronner, lifts connected to a pedestrian tunnel that lead to the Rifugio Torino.
