Derby – Veulotta
From Derby church, follow the signs for the Cammino Balteo (3 in inverted triangle). The path crosses a mixed wood and then begins to climb steeply. After the first ramp in a sparse wood, you enter the shade of fir and hazel trees and the coolness of ferns and mosses. You continue to walk through a wood that seems enchanted and even more magical is the appearance of the village of Veulotta, an abandoned settlement on the ancient salt road. Taking a stroll among the ruins, some of which are still well preserved, will be like stepping back in time.
The route is part of the Cammino Balteo which crosses the Aosta Valley for 350 kilometres: let yourself be accompanied by a hiking guide who is an expert in the area to appreciate the most hidden corners of this path in the municipality of La Salle.
